Electrical Test

Electrical stress can cause several disturbance or failure on transformers. It can cause minor fault like tripping transformers or mayor fault like explotion of the  transformers. Electrical stress can caused by external fault (distrubance) or internal fault. Some external fault which is causing electrical stress : overload, over current, under voltage, over voltage, ground fault, low power quality, and high electromagnetic pulse. This fault has been secured with protection system on transformers. So it can’t disturb transformers system. When transformers have this fault. e.g. : overcurrent, under voltage, or over voltage it generate heat in winding andincrease the possibility to arching fault. This two fault have highest possibility to transformers failure or transformer explotion.

Sample containers are used to retrieve ad store samples. It’is important for them to prevent contamination and to proide the best sample for a spesific test. Sample should have the following characteristics :
Be large enough to hold the volume of liquid necessary for analysis.Not impart any contamination (chemicals or paarticles) to the sample from the container it self.Seal the sample from external contamination.Prevent the loss or gain of gases or water.The volume of the sample is of theutmost importance, as various tests require very different sample volumes.

Transformer Explode in Rainy Season ?

It isn’t unusual to see electrical power transformers catching fire and violently exploding during rainy seasons. What might be thephysics behind such failures of power transformer that threaten life and assets ?

Anyshort-circuit of an electric transformer would produce an electric arc that hasvery high heat energy. This high energy initiates a phenomenon called “oil cracking.” In petrochemistry, petroleum geology and organicchemistry, cracking is the process whereby complex organic molecules such as kerogensor long-chain hydrocarbons are broken down into simpler molecules such as light hydrocarbons, by the breaking of carbon-carbonbondsin the precursors. The rate of cracking and the end products arestrongly dependent on the temperature and presence of catalysts.
